CPAP in Nova Scotia

I Suspect I Have Sleep Apnea

 

1)      Prescription/referral from family physician

 

2)      Sleep Lab vs. Home Study

a)      Sleep Lab, wait time

b)      Home Study, evaluation in your own home

c)   Contact Breathe 'n' Air

 

 

3)      Study scored and returned to referring physician

 

4)      test positive for sleep apnea

a)      AHI > 5 events per hour with symptoms

b)      AHI > 15 events per hour with no symptoms

 

 

5)      CPAP Auto titration trial and information returned to referring physician for recommendation

 

6)      If CPAP tolerated and beneficial = CPAP ordered by physician
